"Did you really need to follow me?" Aoba demanded with an irritated glare adorning his face.
"Of course, Aoba, you're going to see a potentially dangerous creature, I have to make sure you're safe."
Aoba spun on his heel to face Ren, his expression still lingering as he glowered up at his brother, "No you really don't need to? If he wanted to hurt me he could have done it yesterday before I even knew he was there." He said with a huff.
He had told his brother in detail about his encounter with the merman the previous day. At first, Ren hadn't believed him, thinking Aoba was trying to take advantage of his gullibility. Aoba had been able to persuade him into believing him, except that led to the fact he had decided to follow him in case the legends about these mermaids were also true.
"Mermaids are supposed to be cunning, didn't you say there was a family that was there as well? They could have heard you if he tried anything and he knew that." Ren tried with a concerned expression as Aoba whipped back around and started stalking down the beach once more. "Aoba..." He trailed after him.
The two soon made it to the rocky cove where Aoba had met the Merman, and the blue-haired boy immediately went to climb the rocks after kicking his shoes off. Ren stood on the beach for a moment before sighing exasperatedly and doing the same, albeit at a slower pace.
Aoba scoured the base of the rock pile for any signs of the Merman when he got to the top of one of the larger rocks. Upon seeing no immediate sight of him, he raised his voice, "Hey! Are you here?" He slid down the face of the boulder towards the edge of the lower ones, the salt water lapping at his toes atop the stone. He kept his eyes peeled for the blond hair or sleek tail of the Merman.
